Driving in downtown South Bend just became a little easier for commuters.
For the past few months, barricades have slowed down rush hour traffic past Memorial Hospital. But the lane restrictions were lifted, and traffic flowed freely starting Monday.
Construction on the $1.1 million Memorial Skyway Bridge is scheduled to be completed by the middle of April, while phase two construction on the outside façade is slated to wrap up by the end of June.
