Lakeshore Lancers Marching Band raising money for trip to France

Stevensville, Mich. The Lakeshore Lancers marching band in Stevensville is headed to Normandy, France this summer to mark the anniversary of D-Day.

The parade on June 6 will mark 70 years since the Normandy landings and the liberation of Europe. It will also celebrate America's war veterans as well as our active duty military personnel.

The parade will step off in the first French village to be liberated by American troops.

There are 419 Michigan soldiers laid to rest at the Normandy American Cemetery. The band says they will honor them by pouring sand from home on their grave as a symbol of remembrance for their sacrifice.

The band needs to raise money for the trip and could use your help and you can do so online.
