One man is dead after an accident in LaPorte County around 3:40 a.m. eastern time.
It happened just four miles north of the City of LaPorte, near the 3000 north block of U.S. highway 35.
According to the coroner, passenger Jacob Anderson, 26, of LaPorte died of massive blunt force trauma.
The driver, Tomas Drnek of Laporte, 29, was taken to the hospital and survived.
Authorities say a late model white Buick slide into trees at high rate of speed.
Authorities believe that alcohol and speed were factors in the accident.
