LOGAN Center makes memorable prom for disabled teens

Dozens of Michiana teens danced the night away at LOGAN Center Saturday night.

Harris Prairie Church of Christ partnered with the LOGAN Center to put on a prom for all the disabled high school kids living in the area. The theme of this year’s prom was “Golden Night,” inspired by Britt Nichole’s song, “Gold.”

Besides music and dancing guests of the prom enjoyed pizza and a ton of desserts. Students from Penn High School helped out at the event, saying there hadn’t been anything like it at their school before.

“Over spring break I was thinking about starting everything and it came together after that. I went to the principal and got it approved, and then I started spreading the word around the school,” said Lauren Nidea, president of Dream Commission Society at Penn, “I think everyone was really excited about it because there hasn’t been anything like it at Penn.”

The prom ran until 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The responses were so positive that all parties involved plan to put on another prom next year.
