South Bend, Ind. Summer is here and kids are out of school, but what do you do with them if you have to work? You may want to turn to summer camp, but which one? How about a camp that keeps your kids active all day and gives them breakfast, lunch and a snack for no extra cost?
The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in South Bend is offering just that. This summer they have 10 different sessions of camp for all different age groups. Each week of camp has a different theme so they won’t be doing the same thing every week.
This is the third year they have provided summer camp to kids. After the first year of camp, parents asked for before and after care, so the Kroc added two hours before camp and two hours after camp for free care. They say they wanted to make it easier for parents to get to work on time.
After that year, parents asked for camp for kids of all ages. That’s why this year they offer camp to kids between the ages of 3 to 17.
They have the Lil’ Kroc Pre Play Camp for kids between the ages of 3 to 5, they have the Kroc Camp for kids between the ages of 6 to 12 and Kroc Leader Camp for teens between the ages of 13 through 17.
Throughout the day kids will participate in several different activities. They will have time in the gym, pool, climbing the rock wall, art studio, outside on the turf field and much more.
On top of that, they will be fed breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. They will also go on field trips and get t-shirts.
A week of camp at the Kroc costs $125 for non-members and $100 for members. If you have a teen, prices are a little different. For kids in the Kroc Leader Camp, camp costs $50 for members and $75 for non-members.
If you are a parent that doesn’t want your kid in camp all week long or you are busy two or three days one week, the Kroc can help you with that. They also offer two or three day camp. For two days of camp it costs $65 and for three days of camp it costs $80.
