A Starke County woman is behind bars and facing murder charges.

At around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon sheriff's dispatchers got a 911 call from a woman saying she just shot her boyfriend.

When they got to the address on County Road 550 in Knox, they found a man on the floor with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Police arrested Kathleen Holt, 51, and took a gun they believe was used in the shooting. An EMS team tried to resuscitate the victim, Ron Worker, 46, of Knox. He died later at the IU Starke Hospital in Knox.

Holt is being held on a preliminary charge of murder. A bond has not been set.

An autopsy for the victim has been scheduled for later Thursday afternoon.
