Knifing at South Bend gas station

After cutting in line, a man was knifed at a South Bend gas station.

At around 6:45 p.m. Friday, Nathaniel Hammel, 23, got into an argument with another man at the Phillips 66 near North Adams and Lincolnway West after he allegedly cut in line at the checkout.

The verbal spar turned into a physical brawl when the man punched Hammel in the face and cut his right arm with a knife.

Police used security footage to track the suspect vehicle, a white Chevy Yukon, to a house in the 400-block of Birdsell St. There they arrested Terry Allen Harris, 50, but Harris denied ever being at the gas station and knifing Hammel.

Charges regarding the incident are pending at this time.
