It is responsible for more than 440,000 deaths each year. So, what are we talking about? Tobacco.
That's why Elkhart General Hospital is hosting an event known as “Walk Away for a Day: The Great American Smokeout".
It's a day to encourage smokers to stop smoking even if just for a day. From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, clinicians and staff will provide games, fun activities and strategies to help smokers kick the habit.
Some of the activities include screenings, smoking cessation class information, a t-shirt contest and more. This event provides smokers, non-smokers, former smokers, everyone with information they need to understand why smoking is so harmful and what it does to your body.
This event is completely free and no registration is required. Just enter in the Hospital Arcade Avenue entrance.
