Brian Kelly confirmed on Sunday that nose guard Louis Nix has signed with an agent and will enter the NFL Draft, putting to rest any possibility that Nix would return for a 5th season at Notre Dame.
Nix already has his Notre Dame degree and is a projected first round pick.
Nix was already out for Notre Dame's bowl game due to surgery on a torn meniscus but his decision to sign with an agent means he cannot participate with the Irish at a bowl game and cannot receive any of the bowl gifts that the players will receive as part of the Bowl experience.
Notre Dame will face Rutgers in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on December 28th at Yankee Stadium in New York.
"Louis Nix in New York would have been cool, especially around Christmas time," Irish coach Brian Kelly said Sunday. "I didn't know about the signing with the agent until it was too late to tell him you don't get your bowl hat."
