Love can be hard, especially on the back accounts of couples around Valentine’s Day.
Americans spend around $18 billion on candy, flowers, jewelry and other gifts for this holiday. Breaking that amount down further, the average person spends $131 on their significant others.
Men typically spend double the amount compared to women.
However, the sweet day doesn’t have to turn sour. There are plenty of ways to have a budget friendly Valentine’s Day. Jesse Vogel with Palais Royale has a list of ways to keep things cost effective on Thursday.
Some suggestions, if you don’t have a red tablecloth, use a red bed sheet. And those red holiday napkins, well fold them a certain way, and the holiday picture disappears. Also, make dinner or choose a carry out option.
