Michiana residents are dealing with extremely cold temperatures. So, WNDU set out to demonstrate how quickly the weather can affect different items.
The sub-zero temperatures left their mark on a T-shirt within minutes.
Newscenter 16’s Gabby Gonzalez dunked a shirt into water and after 15 minutes it was frozen.
The temperatures outside proved to be colder than the WNDU freezer.
Gabby put a thermometer in the station freezer for about thirty minutes and it indicated 0 degrees. The same thermometer was at – 10 degrees after a brief time outdoors.
The frigid air also made for an interesting sight when we threw some boiling water into the air. The water turned into snow.
If you try any of these “experiments,” make sure you are wearing several layers and only stay outdoors for a few minutes. Do not put your health at risk.
