BENTON HARBOR The charges still stand against an activist accused of election fraud.

Reverend Edward Pinkney appealed the case, but a judge denied his appeal this week.

Pinkney is accused of altering some of the signature dates on petitions to hold a recall election against Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower. The recall effort is based on Hightower's vote regarding an income tax proposal.

He is set to go to trial July 21, but The Herald Palladium reports that he has requested a delay. A judge will make a decision about that request on Tuesday.
