Jimmies feel like they are facing "themselves" Friday against Glenn, Sharpe

Mike Campbell feels like his Jimtown Jimmies will be facing a mirror image of itself Friday night in the Northern State Conference opener against Glenn.

That's because the man coaching the Falcons is former Jimtown assistant David Sharpe, who served on the Jimmies staff for the last eight years and was also once a Jimtown All-State lineman.

Campbell says he's talked to his players about what they are up against.

"They all know who he is," Campbell says with a smile referring to his old defensive coordinator. "we talked about the fact that he's trying to do there all of things we do. So can we stop our stuff? Can we score against our type of defense. It's an interesting week because its like we are playing ourselves."

Campbell's Jimmies are coming off a 21-20 loss to NorthWood in the season opener.

Campbell is in his 6th season as the Jimtown head coach, taking over for David's father Bill--who led the Jimmies to four state championship s in the 90s and 2000s. Bill stayed on as Jimtown Athletic Director until this past summer. He stepped away so he can follow his son's coaching career.

"I think for him--it's an uncomfortable week because he wants to support David obviously," Campbell says. "I know I'd want to help out my son but also that means he has to go against some guys he loves dearly. I think he can't wait to its over with so he can move on to the next game."

Jimtown and Glenn is our Martin's Spotlight Game of the Week. Kickoff at Glenn Friday night is set for 7:30pm.
