Split verdict in the murder trial of Anthony Jefferson

There was a split verdict in the murder trial of Anthony Jefferson.

A St. Joseph County jury acquitted Jefferson of murder, but found him guilty of criminal recklessness.

Police say Jefferson, 43, shot two men last September at a home in the 600 block of Brookfield.

One of those men, Jason Reid, died from his injuries.

The other man, Tyreece Walker, survived and testified against Jefferson.

Jefferson had claimed self-defense.

Jefferson is also accused of forcing a woman to withdraw money from an ATM and then robbing a 7-Eleven in Mishawaka, days before the shooting.

He then fled to his stepmother's house in Rockford, Illinois and had a stand-off with police, before being arrested.
