SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Things are moving ahead to get Ivy Tech's Culinary Program inside the vacant College Football Hall of Fame.

A presentation today was given to the Century Center Board of Managers.

Architects made a proposal to use an existing tunnel that runs underground from the Hall of Fame to the Century Center.

Officials say, if the project is approved, it could lead to advantages for both the 200 student culinary school and the Century Center.

“We're hoping that at its fullest the café center, which is an acronym for
Culinary Arts and Food Education Center, would actually become a national or maybe even an international attraction for groups that are involved in sustainability,” said Thomas Panzica, Vice President of Panzica Architecture Group.

A proposal to move Ivy Tech's "Culinary Arts Program" into the old hall was unanimously endorsed by South Bend's Redevelopment Commission in April.

That gives project supporters six to eight months to raise the funds needed to carry out their plans.
