South Bend, Ind. The Irish will tip off their first exhibition game in less than a month at the Purcell Pavilion.
Their second practice was under way Tuesday afternoon as the Irish gear up for their first season in the ACC. Head Coach Mike Brey said while they will be facing new teams this season they will not be preparing any differently.
However he and his team did say there is some added excitement this season as they prepare for teams like North Carolina and Duke.
“I think our fans are very fortunate to have both Duke and North Carolina coming to South Bend in the first year being in the ACC,” says Notre Dame’s Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Brey. “This is going to become the best basketball conference quickly and we are part of it. And we are part of it with a top 25 program. We have built a top 25 program here. We aspire to go higher, to play deeper in March. We are going in with great momentum and I think all of us, coaches and players, are excited about the challenge.”
Penn grad and Irish Freshman Austin Torres says he is feeling much better after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee this off season and expects to be full strength in a couple of weeks.
