It was just a few months ago that a convicted killer escaped, and now employees at a Michigan state prison are protesting for better security.

Armed with signs, Ionia prison workers took their concerns over security to the streets.

They are pushing for around the clock armed vehicle patrols and better staffed gun towers.

Members say last year's budget cuts left holes in their security protocol.

Investigations by the state found human error and luck were the biggest reasons convicted killer Michael Elliot was able to break out on Superbowl Sunday.
