St. Joseph County, Michigan, rescue and recovery divers are searching the St. Joseph River for a missing 65 year old man.

The search was suspended Sunday evening, but will resume on Monday morning.

Police tell NewsCenter 16 a father-son duo went out into the river near Oxbow Rd. in Constantine, Michigan, at around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night. The father somehow fell into the water, police believe he may have had medical issues, but when the son attempted to pull him back into the boat, the boat capsized and they ended up in the water.

The son told police he tried to hold onto his father as long as he could in the water but eventually got exhausted and let go. Police revived the 911 call once the son exited the river and was able to contact someone for assistance at around 2:40 am.

Investigators have been rotating divers since 9:00 a.m. after temporarily suspending their search overnight water search as a precaution.

At this point the Sheriff's department is looking at this as a "recovery" not a "rescue."
