ELKHART, Ind.--- Investigators say the cause of a fire that destroyed an Elkhart home is arson.
Police were called to the home near the intersection of Elizabeth and Bar around 11:50 p.m.
According to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, the home was vacant but was owned by the city.
It was supposed to be used today by firefighters for collapse rescue training.
According to Battalion Chief David Cushwa, of the Elkhart Fire Department, the house had no electricity or gas.
It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the blaze.
The department is now looking into where the fire originated.
