Mishawaka, Ind. The birds and the bees talk can be a tough conversation to have with kids; but for some reason it can be even tougher for adults.
The topic of sex after 50 is a discussion that's getting a lot of attention on the Today Show this week; and here in Michiana, there's an opportunity for adults to get their intimacy questions answered by the experts at a free forum.
Kelly Connell, B.A./B.S. Psychology, M.S. Ed. Human Sexuality Education, has been hired by the AARP to conduct three free seminars over the next three months.
“Society tells us that persons of a certain age are not supposed to be sexual. However, we know that people are sexual throughout their lives-from womb to tomb. Nowhere are the stereotypes about sexuality and aging more prevalent than for women over 50,” Connell said.
The first one, for women only, is Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the Center for Hospice in Mishawaka. Doors open at 5:30 and the program begins at 6 p.m. To register, call 219-380-8574 or send email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The second seminar will be in September and will be for both men and women, with a third presentation in October. Dates, times and locations have not been announced yet.
