Internet Casanova trial set for May 30

The alleged internet dating career of 29 year old Raymond Holycross was sidetracked last month when one of the women he courted—took him to court.

Holycross allegedly used several aliases to romance women in several states so he could steal from them.

A Mishawaka woman who found out about the fraud—did something about it.

Holycross was known as Ray Parris, to Theresa Bridegroom of Mishawaka. “You know, he got away with this for how long? How many years and how many women did he do this to, and how many women aren’t going to press charges against him?

Bridegroom claims she has a phone Holycross left behind and that she has used it to identify and call 25 to 30 additional women he may have scammed.

Bridgegroom says Holycross told her that he worked for the Huffington Post and had to travel a lot.

Today, the only traveling Holycross did was from his cell at the St. Joseph County jail to the courthouse for a brief hearing.

Theresa Bridegroom was there. “The second he walked in he made direct eye contact with me immediately when he walked in and that right there just put a smile on my face.”

As the victim of an embarrassing crime, Bridegroom has the right to remain silent—but a strong desire to speak out.

“I just want him to know that I am standing my ground, I will not back down from anything and I’m better than he is, and I beat him at his own game.”

But the game isn’t over, and Holycross is charged with theft as a D felony. Conviction would carry a potential jail term of six months to three years.

“And there's more I wish I could charge him with as far as you know this is just for the theft of my camera, to me this is something so minor,” said Bridegroom. “I’m still trying everything I can to get him charged with something regarding the safety of him having a handgun within easy possession of me and my (11 year old) son. Thankfully I’m the one that found it and when I did pick it up it was fully loaded.”

A warrant out of Howard County seeks to charge Holycross with stealing that gun and some electronics from a Kokomo woman he met online.

Holycross is also wanted on an identity theft charge out of Oregon for allegedly raiding the bank account of a woman he dated there.

Holycross remains in jail. He has not been able to come up with the $1,000 in cash he needs to bond out.
