A man charged in his baby daughter's death was in court Tuesday morning. It was 22-year-old Bryan Michel's initial hearing.
He's charged with felony neglect of a dependent resulting in death, after baby Halo's death was ruled a homicide.
Before getting his trial date, his attorney asked for his bond to be reduced.
Judge Jane Woodward Miller is ordering a bond screen and should decide in about a week,
In the meantime, Michel will be back in court October 22 for his record date and then again November 12 for his trial.
When crews responded to a 911 call to the family's South Bend home on July 10, the parents reported that the four-month-old was not breathing.
According to court documents, Michel originally told the child's mother their older daughter dropped Halo on the floor, but he said she was fine.
Michel later told police he was giving Halo a bath when he slipped and fell on her.
