The democrat running for Indiana's second district congressional seat, Friday was blatantly courting republican voters.
Courting republicans is somewhat familiar turf for Brendan Mullen, whose wife is a former republican congressional staffer.
Mullen held a news conference to emphasize the support he hopes to get from independent and republican voters.
If we continue to hire folks on the fringes of ideological spectrum, we're never going to be able to touch each other’s fingers,” said Mullen. “I'm a middle of the road moderate guy, that a lot of my democratic friends basically say I'm a republican.”
Mullen said neither political party has a monopoly on good ideas, and he'd vote in the best interests of the entire second district.
