Elkhart Police continue investigating into a shooting at an Elkhart Apartment Complex, and it's possible that area could soon see more patrols. However, the added police presence would not be in response to the shooting.

Sunday night, a 27-year-old man was found in the 300-block of West Indiana Avenue with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, but he was actually shot at Washington Gardens Apartments, one block north on Wagner.

This Thursday, the Elkhart Housing Authority will meet to decide whether to allocate funds for patrols near the complex.

Officials tell our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth these plans have been in the works since May.

If the money is approved, the community could see more police in a few weeks.
