The man accused of murdering a Mishawaka High School student 26 years ago was in court Tuesday morning.

Phillip Geans, 44, was arrested in December for shooting Theresa Burns to death back in 1988.

Geans had his status hearing Tuesday and is currently being held without bond by the St. Joseph County Jail.

On that fateful day, Burns left school early to change clothes and never returned.

She was later found dead in her home from multiple gunshot wounds.

Back in June, Geans' attorney requested that he be psychologically evaluated before standing trial. The court appointed two doctors to complete those evaluations.

Geans' trial is set for December 8.
