Interstate 94 in southwestern Berrien County is reopen following a fatal late morning wreck.
Around 11:05 a.m. Sunday, first responders were dispatched to an accident in the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Wilson Rd., straddling the Indiana-Michigan state line.
Deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff's Department found a westbound Subaru Forrester, driven by Erdman Spradlin, 84, of Naperville, Ill. had lost control and crossed the center median. Forrester's Subaru then careened into the I-94 eastbound lanes, hitting a Dodge Neon driven by Debra Moss, 50, of Ann Arbor Mich.
Erdman Spradlin was pronounced dead on the scene. His wife, Mary Spradlin, 84, and Moss were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police do not believe alcohol played any role in the morning crash. The Berrien County Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing its investigation.
