The lights went out for more than 8,000 I&M Power customers Thursday night and the outage led to class cancellations at IU South Bend. Now, professors and staff are working to re-schedule final exams.

A total of 63 final exams were affected by the power outage, according to communications director Ken Baierl. Some of the exams were re-scheduled for Friday, while others will take place Monday or Tuesday.

There were some professors that made arrangements with students to get assignments turned in or take tests individually.

The IU South Bend Registrar’s office is preparing to delay the posting of grades if it is necessary. Such a delay will not affect students’ ability to take part in next week’s commencement.
