Final results are in for Indiana's statewide IREAD3 tests.
Ninety one percent of third graders passed, up from 90.6 percent last year.
The hour long test consists of 40 questions covering word meanings, context, and comprehension.
State school superintendent Glenda Ritz, says the numbers show families are making reading a priority.
Those students who failed the reading test will get another chance to take it this summer.
If they still don't end up with a passing grade, they may have to be held back a year in school.
Eighty four percent of third graders in the South Bend School Corporation passed the test.
Almost 96 percent passed in the PHM district.
And in Elkhart, 85 percent of students passed.
