SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Hundreds of toys will soon be on their way to help local children struggling through traumatic experiences.

The South Bend Police Department received the large donation on Monday from the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The department will use some of the toys to help comfort children who have been victims of crime and tragedies, like house fires.

The rest of the toys will be used during SBPD outreach events to inform folks of helpful city resources.
The toys were made available to the Vincent de Paul Society thanks to Michiana's generosity during the most recent Toys for Tots drive.
