South Bend, Ind. Community leaders recognized the 65th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights today.
The St. Joe County Library in downtown South Bend hosted a presentation of the declaration this afternoon. Guest speakers like the mayor, an IUSB professor specializing in immigration, and the South Bend Human Rights Commission explained different articles from the United Nations proclamation.
The goal was to highlight political and social rights for every person, with an emphasis on immigration.
Attendees were asked to sign a petition to demand that Congresswoman Walorski call for a vote on a comprehensive immigration act.
