Students at Holy Cross College hosted an auction event tonight to raise money for NewsCenter 16’s annual Toys for Tots campaign.
Area businesses and individuals donated items like gift baskets and certificates for the students to auction off... All to raise money to buy presents for deserving children.
By the end of the night, the fundraiser had collected more than $8,200.
The students will use the money to buy gifts for needy kids at Meijer on Friday, then parade the toys over to our WNDU studios on Saturday morning.
"It was a great turn out,” said Corinne Middleton, Entertainment President of Holy Cross student government. “I really think we're going to get a lot of money. So not only are we going to get a lot of surprises for the kids, but they're going to be good quality too. So that's exciting."
