The frigid temperatures on the inside of Elkhart's Guidance Ministries are almost as cold as those outside.

On Friday, the organization's heat went out, and the boiler is over its five year warranty.

The organization says a part of boiler stopped working, but the exact cost of what it would take to replace the part, is not yet known.

Guidance Ministries has canceled its normal services this week, including the food and clothing pantries, because of the lack of heat.

However, some of the organization's volunteers are bundled, and Monday, were working to take applications for Christmas Outreach.

Pastor Lori King says the problem hasn't come at the best time. She says donations are down this time of year and bills are piling up.

Guidance Ministries is asking anyone in the community will to help to stop by at 216 N. Second Street in Elkhart, or make a donation via PayPal.
