An important deadline is coming, and it’s one that has some government officials worried.
On Friday, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski and Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller’s office hosted a fraud prevention workshop.
In it, they talked about raising awareness for senior citizens and other families about fraud and identity theft.
The Affordable Health Care Act kicks off in October, and Congresswoman Walorski says she thinks it may be an opportunity for some Hoosiers to be taken advantage of.
“My concern is that we already know there are scammers and fraudsters making calls to senior citizens asking them to read the number off their Medicare card which is their social security number and telling them they'll enroll them over the telephone,” Walorski said.
She says to give her office or the attorney general’s office a call if you think you’re being scammed.
