Healthcare for the homeless

SOUTH BEND August 11-17 is National Health Center Week, a time clinics and facilities across the nation will be recognized for service to the community. Health Centers provide medical, dental and preventative care to under-served and uninsured patients across the country.

In South Bend, one clinic will specifically recognize Health Care for the Homeless during National Health Center Week. Project Homecoming is a branch of the Indiana Health Center, a federally qualified health center with clinics across the state. Both facilities have been serving South Bend since 1974 and provide care for thousands of patients every year.

Project Homecoming will partner with area clinics and organizations on Wednesday to offer free screenings and tests to South Bend community members in need. Staff there hopes it will make more people aware of the services they provide every day.

Project Homecoming is located at 701 S Main Street in South Bend.
