A Michiana mother has pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent for leaving her baby with a stranger while she did drugs.

Prosecutors say Heather Gipperich brought her then nine-month-old daughter with her as she bought heroin.

The 31-year-old later told police she got high and left her baby with a woman she just met.

The baby was missing for hours, but later turned up safe with the woman in Elkhart.

Gipperich will have a sentencing hearing September 15.
