SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Wednesday brought a complaint that Transpo is moving too fast when it comes to selling the 10-acre site on Northside Boulevard that once housed the company’s headquarters.
“They haven't really informed the public,” Karen Schefmeyer, with the Howard Park East Bank Neighborhood Association, said. “We had a wonderful neighborhood meeting Monday night over here at the Zion United Church of Christ, we had over 100 people and no one knew what was going on.
The group is calling on the city of South Bend to hold public meetings on the three development plans that have been proposed for the parcel.
Some consider the parcel too important to the city's future to have the Transpo board -- and not the city -- decide on a developer.
