SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Friday, volunteers began the process of turning the scene of tragedy into a symbol of hope.

Habitat for Humanity's Women Build broke ground Friday for a new house near the intersection of Corby and Twyckenham in South Bend.

The house will be home to a mother and her two sons.

Barbara Knapp died there in 2012, when a car crashed into her home as she slept on the couch.

Barbara's daughter was at the groundbreaking ceremony today, to make her mother's legacy one of helping others.
The building will really get underway late next month, and they hope to finish by early October.

Anyone can help give this family a new home, by volunteering time or money
