Elkhart County officials say they can still help more families get rid of dangerous lead paint in their homes.
2 years ago, the Elkhart County Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes Program received a $2.5 million dollar grant. Since then, they've removed the toxic paint from 140 homes, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.
The group says there's still money left to tackle 50 more homes.
Eligible homes must have at least one child under age six living there.
