SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- It's earth day every day at IU South Bend and South Bend schools.

Today students from South Bend schools visited Potawatomi zoo.

Last week the teachers created enrichment pieces for the animals, and they watched the animals play with the pieces today.

This is all part of a three year grant that focuses on outside learning and specifically on the environment.

"It's been great, the first year we had about 50 total and this year we got about 120 total so next year we hope to continue that and get the word out about the resources we have in that area," said Terri Hebert from IU South Bend.

The grant is designed for all ages, and helps local teachers get training in outdoor education.

Tomorrow, the kids will be participating in "river watching" activities, and another group will put together solar lam generators.
