SOUTH BEND Vandals have struck the 933 bridge mural, less than a month after it was completed.

The mural is meant to be a beautiful welcome to the city of South Bend. Volunteers spent the summer painting it.

The organization in charge of the project, cstackstudios, says they prepared for the possibility of graffiti, and took extra precautions to protect against it during the painting process.

In a statement, the group writes, "Although taggers have the convenience of a can of spray paint, we have the dedication to the project and the community who supported it so whole-heartedly."

They say they will repair the damage as soon as weather permits.
