The National Guard is ready to assist Hoosiers during the winter storm.
Governor Mike Pence ordered the National Guard to activate Highway Assistance Teams in response to the heavy snow and low temperatures expected across the state.
These teams are able to help with life saving and rescue operations. They are trained to rescue stranded motorists, move individuals to shelter and assist local EMS in reaching individuals who need medical care.
Twenty-four total teams, consisting of 96 people, will be deployed throughout Indiana.
Each team has four individuals and two vehicles.
