Man injured Tuesday in 5th Elkhart Co. motorcycle crash in 9 days

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday afternoon when a van turned into his path in Goshen, according to police.

It happened at 1:48 p.m. near the intersection of SR 13 and CR 34.

Police say Terry Fry, 44, of LaGrange, was traveling south on SR 13 when his 1983 Honda VT5 motorcycle collided with a van.

The driver of the 2001 Ford Express van, Nannie Peachey, 54, of Howe, had been traveling east on CR 34 and was cited for failure to yield after turning onto SR 13, into the path of Fry.

Fry was flown by Medflight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with a severe leg injury. He was not wearing a helmet, according to police. He was cited for operating a motorcycle without the proper license endorsement.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

Tuesday's crash is the fifth Elkhart County motorcycle accident in the last nine days.

"We all need to be reminded to be aware, watch for them, and share the road safely," the sheriff's department said in a release. "Motorcycle riders should be reminded to ride responsibly and maintain safe speeds and wear a helmet. It may not be required but it may save a life."
