Goshen man sentenced for killing protected birds

A Goshen man will spend a year on probation and pay a fine for killing birds native to the United States.

Ronald Simmons, 44, found out his punishment this week.

He illegally trapped and killed migratory birds including Great Horned Owls and Red-Tailed Hawks.

The birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
