Goshen man sentenced for killing migratory birds

GOSHEN, Ind.--- A Goshen man has been sentenced in federal court for killing migratory birds.

Christopher Simmons, 43, and his brother, Ronald Simmons, caught birds of prey in a pole trap and then shot them.

An anonymous tip led the DNR to the men.

Christopher Simmons pleaded guilty to the felony offense.

He was sentenced this week to one year probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

Ronald Simmons was sentenced last week to a year of probation and an unspecified fine.
