A Goshen man was injured Wednesday afternoon when a semi fell on his SUV, pinning him underneath.
A semi driven by Bela Koncz, 63, was heading southbound around 4:25 p.m. when it ran a red light at the S.R. 15 and U.S. 20 intersection, according to the Elkhart County Sherrif’s Department.
Koncz ran into a semi traveling east on U.S. 20 driven by Stephen Graves, 41, of Toledo, Ohio.
Graves’ semi then fell on top of a Honda Pilot facing northbound on S.R. 15 waiting to turn left onto U.S. 20.
Ronald Bontrager, 38, of Goshen, was trapped under his vehicle for nearly an hour before being freed by firefighters.
Bontrager was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a broken leg. Five other passengers were in the vehicle but were not injured.
Koncz received a citation for failing to stop at the red light.
