Goshen man arrested for arson in Goshen apartment fire

Updated: Tue 11:57 PM, Jan 08, 2013

A Goshen man has been arrested and faces preliminary arson charges. He's accused of setting an apartment building on fire.

Around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Goshen Fire Department was called to a blaze in the 100 block of S. Seventh St. It was at a house divided into four apartments.

One of the tenants, Lindsay Baker, was on the second floor where the fire started and couldn't get out because of the heavy smoke. She waited on the porch roof until firefighters arrived to help her down with a ladder. Paramedics took Baker to IU Health Goshen where she was treated for minor smoke inhalation and released.

By Tuesday evening, police arrested tenant Trever Bouck, 24, of Goshen for arson. Although firefighters know the blaze started in the kitchen on the second floor, the exact cause is still under investigation.

Families in three of the four units were allowed back into their apartments after the scene was cleared by police. A total damage figure has not been determined.
