GOSHEN Goshen's city court will stay open for at least another four years.
After more than two hours of discussion, the city council voted to keep it open – against the wishes of the mayor.
Mayor Allan Kauffman wants to close it in order to save money. He says the move would save the city $600,000 over the next four years.
Those in favor of keeping the court open say the Elkhart County court wouldn't be able to handle the overflow of Goshen city cases.
According to The Elkhart Truth , the city can only legally consider closing a city court once every four years. That means the court will continue operating until at least 2018.
