A cabinet manufacturer announced plans on Friday to expand its Goshen operations, adding up to 76 jobs by the end of the year.
MasterBrand Cabinets, Inc., (MCBI) headquartered in Jasper, Indiana, says it plans to invest $574,000 in equipment in an effort to expand production in its Goshen location. The changes to the 484,500 square-foot facility on Eisenhower Dr. N. are expected to be completed by the end of the month.
The company says some of the new additions will include installing a new miter cell, shaping and finishing equipment and adding in an oven and tools to facilitate assembly.
"It's a great joy to see a home-grown Hoosier company like MBCI succeed in our state," said Governor Mike Pence. "Its decision to continue to grow here reminds us that our great workforce, fiscal stability and robust infrastructure make Indiana a state that works for business."
According to Goshen Mayor Allan Kauffman, "MBCI worked closely with the city of Goshen and the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County on this highly competitive project. We appreciate the company's confidence in the vitality and vibrancy of our city and county."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered MasterBrand Cabinets up to $350,000 in conditional tax credits in addition to $80,000 in training grants based on its plan to create new jobs. Until Indiana residents are hired, the company is not eligible to claim these performance-based incentives.
MasterBrand currently employs more than 780 Goshen residents, and some 2,800 Hoosiers at its six facilities throughout the state. The company has started hiring additional manufacturing, production and other support positions at its various plants.
