Golf lovers across Michiana waited out the long winter to get back on the course.
This weekend was the perfect occasion to bring out the golf clubs for the first time this season.
Local golf courses have been opening up slowly over the last month. While some brave souls dared battle the elements to get a quick 18 in during the colder days, Sunday’s beautiful weather with little wind signified the beginning of golf season.
A little holiday did not stop many from getting out on the links.
Tommy Walker, Erskine Park Attendant, says, “The weather helped it for this afternoon after everyone got done with their dinners. This afternoon was pretty busy actually.”
It was something of an Easter miracle. Mid 70-degree temperatures made for prime golf weather, bringing local golfers out in droves.
Brian Matthews, Elbel Park Assistant Professional, says, “We just opened up a few weeks ago, now that it's getting nicer we're actually getting a lot more people because people got the cabin fever. Cooped up all winter.”
