#GivingTuesday raises funds to buy iPads for kids with Autism

December 3rd marks the 2nd annual "Giving Tuesday" movement. It is a nation-wide campaign urging people to give back to local charities on the Tuesday after the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

This year, Memorial Children's Hospital has started it's own "Giving Tuesday" campaign. Staff in the Developmental Pediatrics iPad program created a video, featuring 4-year-old Nina Balcazar, who is living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Nina used an iPad to help her learn to communicate with those around her.

The Balcazar family used the loaner program because it was too expensive to purchase a tablet with all of their other expenses. Currently, Memorial Children's hospital has around 6 iPads. The funds from "Giving Tuesday" will be used to buy more for families like Nina's to borrow an iPad.

You can donate to the "Giving Tuesday" campaign at Memorial Hospital on their website.

You can also support the "Giving Tuesday" movement through social media by using #GivingTuesday.
